Whilst RAC is Canada’s only national Reflexology association, we recognize that we live in a world where it is vital to have a global perspective and where international co-operation is vital for growth and development. Embracing this philosophy, we are committed to reaching out to our colleagues around the world and one key area where we do this is in our international conference which is held every two years.

This year we shall be meeting in Winnipeg in November and, once again, one of the key benefits of attending will be the networking with Reflexologists from all over the world.

Cardiovascular Disease, Type 2 Diabetes and Complementary and Alternative Medicine:

CAMELOT investigates care seeking, health management and the relationship between use of conventional and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) amongst people with Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) or/and cardiovascular disease (CVD) including hypertension or high cholesterol.

CAMELOT is a three year NHMRC funded study at Monash University conducted in association with Heart Support Australia, Diabetes Australia–Victoria, and the Chronic Illness Alliance.

CAMELOT provides a voice for people with CVD and T2DM so we can all better understand their needs and experiences. This research has the potential to influence future health policy and practice. Your client’s contribution involves taking about 25 minutes to complete a questionnaire.

Notice From the President

Reflexologists in Australia are not trained in pathophysiology and are not equipped to offer medical diagnosis.

Professional members of the Reflexology Association of Australia (RAoA) understand this and abide by the duty of care as outlined in the code of ethics maintaining the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.  The professional duty of a practitioner is to completely assist the client to optimum health within the circumstances of the client’s condition.  Diagnosis of physical conditions is not offered. This is one of the many benefits of being treated by a professional member of the RAoA.

Reflexology is a Complementary Integrated Therapy working alongside the western medical model in major hospitals in Australia and throughout the world. It does not promote exclusivity of treatment and does not cause distress to clients by making spurious claims about other professions.
